Associate Professor , EEE Department
Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
We work for Optimization of Power and Energy Systems leading to a smart data-driven environment. Our goal is to develop optimization and/or control strategies to design and operate future power and energy systems in an efficient, smart, reliable, resilient, and economical manner.
Our research domain includes smart power transmission and distribution systems, efficient integration of renewable distributed energy resources, optimal scheduling of electric vehicle charging infrastructures, applications of power electronics-based compensators, and development of hydrogen energy systems for future surface transportation.
We develop advanced optimization frameworks using linear programming, mixed-integer programming, dynamic programming, and meta-heuristic approaches.
Associate Professor , IIT Guwahati
SANJIB GANGULY received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur (formerly Bengal Engineering and Science University), India, in 2003, the M.E. degree in electrical engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India, in 2011. From 2006 to 2007, he was a Senior Officer in electrical maintenance at Tata Power Company Ltd., overseeing the operation of 2 × 500 MW thermal power units at Trombay Thermal Power Station, Mumbai. He was an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, from 2011 to 2015. Since 2015, he has been with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, where he is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. His research interests include distribution system planning and optimization, voltage control and stability, multi-objective optimization, custom power devices, hybrid energy systems, evolutionary algorithms, fuel cell performance modeling, and degradation prognostics.
He serves as an Associate Editor for Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy .
