
Tarak Nath Dey received his Ph.D. from the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad in 2004 on “Subluminal and Superluminal Propagation of Electromagnetic Fields” under the supervision of Prof. G. S. Agarwal. Dr. Dey received the Golden Jubilee Gold Medal for the best PhD thesis. He did postdoctoral fellowships at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA, and at Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics, Heidelberg, Germany. Since 2007, he is holding the Assistant Professor position at the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India. His current research interests include pulse propagation in atomic media, negative refractive media, Kerr non-linear media, sub-harmonic generation, Bose–Einstein condensates, and degenerate Fermi gases.
