About the Lab

Welcome to the Atom Based Quantum Technologies Group at the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. We are deeply involved in both the experimental and theoretical aspects of quantum technologies.

Our primary research area focuses on quantum computation and simulation using laser-cooled Yb (Ytterbium) and Rb (Rubidium) atoms. This complex process involves laser cooling atoms to microkelvin temperatures, trapping them, arranging them precisely in optical tweezer arrays, and manipulating their quantum states with high fidelity.

We actively study Rydberg excitation, blockade mechanisms, and multi-qubit interactions, all of which are fundamental building blocks for scalable quantum computing architectures. Our experimental platform seamlessly integrates high-coherence lasers, advanced spectroscopy techniques, ultra-high vacuum systems, and precise computer-controlled electronic operations.

Beyond computation, our team investigates atomic coherence, electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT), magnetometry, high-resolution spectroscopy, and optical frequency metrology. Through these efforts, we aim to contribute to both fundamental physics discoveries and applied real-world quantum technologies.
