Current research interests

Spintronics

Electrical switching of magnetic materials mainly ferromagnets is widely used for spintronics applications to write and read the data in memory devices. We are focused on the generation of spin current from collinear and non-collinear antiferromagnetic from intrinsic and extrinsic spin Hall effect. Usually, we utilize the spin current from the proximal layer or even from the same layer to switch the magnetization of the magnetic materials. We aim to develop a variety of spin-based devices for applications in magnetic sensors, non-volatile memory, and energy harvesting.

Quantum materials

We are exploring various classes of quantum materials, both in bulk and thin film forms, that exhibit exotic magneto-transport properties for practical applications. We are particularly interested in materials such as Heusler alloys, anti-perovskite nitrides, carbides, two-dimensional materials, and Kagome materials. The magnetic ground states of these materials can be ferromagnet, ferrimagnet, or antiferromagnet. These materials demonstrate potential for effects such as the anomalous Hall effect, the anomalous Nernst effect, the magneto-optical Kerr effect, and many others.

Superconducting spintronics

Ferromagnetism and conventional superconductivity do not coexist in bulk materials due to their opposing properties. Electrical switching of magnetic materials mainly ferromagnets is widely used for spintronics applications.?Fundamentally, the high energy dissipation of magnetization switching is related to Ohmic losses associated with charge currents. On the other hand, there is no ohmic loss in superconductors. Thus, combining superconductors with magnetic materials is a unique way to create novel spintronics devices in which? Joule heating and dissipation are minimized.
